Snorkelling is an activity which requires a certain level of mobility and fitness and the safety of our customers is our most important priority. For those visitors who have a disability, whether visible or invisible, and who feel they are fit enough to snorkel, if there is a safe way for us to take you out with the seals, then we will do our very best to make it happen. If you have any concerns about your trip please contact us to discuss your options.
Access to the shed is via a sandy track down a gentle slope. Access to where you will get changed is step free. There are public toilets close to our location which have disabled access. |
Normally access to the RIB (the boat we go out to the seals in) will be a short walk along a tarmacked road and then down the quay steps. Sometimes, if the tide is very low, we go down the beach below our shed then wade out to the boat. Likewise, if the tide is low after the trip, we will have to wade in to get ashore as there will be no water at Higher Town Quay. Watchers can be taken to and from the RIB using a small inflatable dinghy, some paddling will be involved. There are public toilets close to our location which have disabled access.
We have dry bags on board the RIB and will happily store hearing aids, glasses, inhalers and medication to ensure they stay safe and dry. The safety brief we give before you get in the water is very important. We've translated it into a number of different languages to ensure the important points are understood by all our customers. |
Getting to St Martin’s from the other islands will involve a boat trip and the use of quay steps. We are based opposite Higher Town Quay. If your boat lands at Lower Town Quay, which is the other end of the island, there will be a 30 minute walk to get to us.
If you have difficulties with mobility and want to explore St Martin’s after your seal snorkelling trip, it is possible to hire a mobility scooter on the island. These can be hired on a daily basis and will be delivered to and can be returned back to a Quay. Please visit the St Martin's community website or call Chris Savill on 01720 423563 for more information. |
